Health appliance ODM, from in-house design to private label

A health appliance is a consumer product that has to behave like a medical one. It sits in a nursery, a kitchen, or a bedroom, it runs for years, and if a UV-C lamp or a water path underperforms, the failure is invisible until it matters. We build air purification, water filtration, UV-C, and baby-care appliances as an ODM partner, which means we can take a product from an idea through engineering, tooling, and branded packaging under one roof — or finish an existing design as private-label supply under your brand.

ODM or private label: choosing the model

The two models trade design ownership for speed and cost, and the right choice depends on how much of the product needs to be yours.

Full ODM starts closer to a blank sheet. We do the mechanical and electronic R&D against your specification and target market, cut tooling for your parts, and build a product that is engineered around what you need. You get more control and cleaner ownership of the result, at the cost of more up-front engineering and tooling investment.

Private label starts from a proven design and finishes it with your branding, packaging, and — where it makes sense — specific feature or cosmetic changes. It is faster and cheaper to market because the hard engineering is already done and amortized. The trade is that the base design is not exclusively yours.

Most appliance brands do not land cleanly on one side. A common and sensible shape is a hybrid: start from a validated core module, then build custom enclosure, controls, and firmware on top so the product looks and behaves like yours while the solved core stays solved. Core module capabilities

An ODM partner is only as good as the modules it actually understands. Ours are built in-house, not bought as black boxes.

  • UV-C modules. We design and build UV-C disinfection modules for appliances where surface or air sterilization is the point. Because the module is ours, we can tune dose, geometry, and safety interlocks to your product rather than bolting on someone else’s part.
  • HEPA and negative-ion systems. For air purification, we integrate HEPA filtration and negative-ion generation into the airflow path, and we engineer the mechanical side — fan, seals, filter seating — so rated performance survives real-world use rather than only the spec sheet.
  • 40 kHz ultrasonic transducers. We build 40 kHz ultrasonic transducers for the appliances that need controlled ultrasonic energy, from the transducer through the drive electronics.
  • Battery, power management, and micro-motors. The shared electronics base under all of it — PCB and PCBA design, SMT, battery and power management, and micro-motors — is in-house, so a portable or cordless appliance is engineered end to end by one team.

For baby-care and infant appliances specifically, the constraint set tightens: safety margins, materials, and durability all move toward the medical end of the scale. Custom packaging and branding

For a health appliance, the box is part of the product. A device that arrives in generic packaging reads as generic no matter how good the engineering is. Custom packaging is one of the five phases of our process, not an afterthought — we design retail-ready and channel-appropriate packaging around your brand, so the finished unit fits the shelf or the unboxing your market expects. On a private-label program this is often the largest part of what makes the product yours, and we treat it accordingly.

The five-phase process, on an appliance program

The same five-phase sequence runs on every program; what changes on an appliance build is the emphasis at each stage.

  1. Positioning (4W). We start by defining what the product is, who it’s for, where it sells, and why it wins — the four questions that keep a program from over- or under-engineering. For an appliance, this is where regional power standards, channel, and price point get fixed before anyone cuts metal.
  2. R&D consulting. Mechanical and electronic engineering against that positioning, choosing which modules — UV-C, HEPA, ultrasonic, ion — carry the product and how they integrate.
  3. Tooling and cost. We cut tooling in-house and build up a transparent cost breakdown, so you see how modules, enclosure, assembly, testing, and packaging add to the unit price rather than getting a lump sum.
  4. Custom packaging. Branded, market-appropriate packaging designed as part of the product.
  5. Quality assurance. Pre-production, in-process, and final inspection, plus third-party testing where a market or standard requires it. An appliance still has to pass the same three inspection stations as a regulated device.
